About Me

An O'odham Dude Interested in Data Driven Change

I am a member of the Gila River Indian Community. My father is Robert Bruce and my mother is the late Beverly Gerlaugh-bat. I started this website to house the multitude of projects and writings I work on.

I'm an ASU alum - Sociology undergrad, Master's degree in Science & Technology Policy, and I did a few years working my way through a PhD in Human and Social Dimensions of Science & Tech. My research interests are around the labor and economics of indigenous communities. I took some time off the PhD during COVID and am hoping to make my way back eventually!

I keep my work focused around my ancestral homelands at Gila River, but I'm also interested in other indigenous spaces on the urban periphery. I've been delving into a lot of work around decolonizing employment, increasing social and economic mobility, and trying to find ways that indigenous nations can build social and economic resilience
